Balance: Is there such a thing?

The very idea of balance implies that a well-lived life must allocate equal time and energy between work and home. Work-life balance then is another impossible ideal for women to aspire to.

-From COVID, we learned that boundaries and balance needed to be put into place, or we were working the whole time.
Boundaries: What works for you? Is it a sort of give and take, or a hard and firm set of time?
-Idea of “equal time” creates balance isn’t realistic, but hopefully the balance is there at the end. There are times where you need to be home more, and times where you need to work more.
Recognizing the role of our unbalanced work-ethic has played in getting us where we are.
-Everyone should have their own definition of balance - it will change throughout the year and throughout our lives.
-Delegation: Need to understand when you can do it yourself and when you need to delegate
-Balance: not a set of scales, but more like a teeter-totter you are trying to not have smack the ground. So long as both sides are in the air, we live.
-Wellness: It is a challenge to step-back and take care. Who are we listening to? The Cheap Seats? The Box Seats? We often look at Wellness as an Event, rather than living it every day.
-If you want balance, you will find balance. What is important to you is what you prioritize.
-Balance isn’t just about my balance, but also includes balance in your family and what they need. You do have to consider this, male or female
-Balance is a personal perspective
-So much of this is finding the systems that work for you & letting those change as your life and year changes
-Guarding Minds Survey and the idea of Work- Life EXCELLENCE. When you are home, are you excellent? When you are at work, are you excellent?
-Be fully present where you are.
-Stay at work until you need to, but be home and fully present.
-We will never be caught up
-Be well at work, and well at home
