Lessons learned:
1. Preparation is critical; 2. Honesty; 3. Ongoing Communication to inform....; 4. Provide data to support...; 5. Offer options, but concurrently, listen to the Chair's information/suggestions;
6. Vetting/informing people who are presenting to the Board, providing the context; 7. Be present with your Board; 8. Review your staff's presentation to the Board to ensure that you have full understanding of what is being presented; 9. always be mindful of 'motions' - operational vs governance; 10.How do I, the Superintendent, support the Board; 11. You will have to have 'crucial conversations' - ensure you know how to do effectively and diplomatically have such conversations; 12. Reflections - the importance of reviewing your own reflections to determine any themes/recurring concepts etc; 13. listen to the narrative/story of your Board (you will gain invaluable information);
