These ideas were collected in the Fall of 2022 and this part of the project is available for your review only.

  1. What is it about the context in your district/division/region that you feel is essential for people to know to work as a system education leader? – How did you come to learn this in your role?
  2. How do you support people who are new to role or level understand the new context of their work?

Our table discussed:
1. *reiterate we are a team (cannot be an 'island')
*political context
*every community within the district is different
*school division foundational beliefs - what our division is all about
*that we are a school division, not a division of schools

2. *Share Lessons learned - emphasize that we are team, discouraging operating in isolation
*leadership team meetings
*supporting new leaders - identifying supports (eg: hired an retired individual to help build capacity in those situations where everyone was new)
*asking - "What do you need from us?"
*honour the passion that new leaders bring to the table - look for opportunities for autonomy
*create space/structures to talk about issues
*distributed leadership structure
*create safe place for leaders to ask questions, propose new ideas
