As a CASS member for quite a few years, I have appreciated that the many events and conferences have provided both theoretical insights and pragmatic learnings. Simply put, CASS has helped me to do my job by providing learning opportunities that were very practical in nature. My fear (perhaps too strong of a word) is that the guiding principles don't place enough value on the pragmatic. Principle 4 comes close to that notion - but from the perspective of engagement in research and publishing. I feel that timely capacity building has been the cornerstone of many of my interactions through CASS - and has assisted me in doing my job for the betterment of students, and I further believe that we will want to hang on to the pragmatic to ensure that CASS continues to have a significant impact on the learning of it's members.
