Mental Health in Schools – Building Capacity

The education system plays an important role in contributing to enhanced positive mental health in children and youth. Promoting and supporting positive mental health and welcoming, caring, respectful, and safe learning environments is vital to ensuring children and youth are resilient better able to learn, achieve success and build healthy relationships. System wide use of Collaborative Problem Solving, Regulating Classroom, Positive Behaviour interventions and supports, Restorative Practice, Trauma-informed practices, CRM - Collaborative Response Model, Zones of Regulation, Circle of Security, Mental Health Literacy, deepening understanding of Psychological safety, Executive Functioning. teachers are. learning about thorough professional development time. Understanding Rainbow Spaces/LGBTQ - teachers are concerned about making mistakes (saying the "wrong" thing).
