Accreditation Requirements
Individuals interested in registering for a CEP Course will need to complete a registration form. Please note that all courses have a registration deadline set for 10 days prior to the start of the course.

*Online means the entire course is delivered online in a synchronous manner with a facilitator, scheduled over four weeks (2.5 hours per week) for a total of 10 hours.
**Hybrid means 5 hours of in-person learning at a CASS pre-conference, followed by 2 online sessions (2.5 hours each) for a total of 10 hours.
***In-person means face-to-face learning at a CASS Summer Conference for a total of 10 hours.
All CASS members are eligible to register for CEP courses.
Regulated members are required to complete five (5) CEP courses, face to face or online, within five (5) years of becoming a regulated member as part of their annual 30 CEP credits. All members are encouraged to complete additional CEP courses, as available, throughout the term of their membership as a CASS regulated member.
Non-CASS members may register for courses but must hold a leadership position in a public, separate, Francophone or First Nations school authority in Alberta. This information needs to be provided upon registration and may be subject to verification. Permission may be granted to non-CASS members that do not fit into the criteria described above.
All fees include a $50 non-refundable administration fee.
Cancellation should be received in writing to admin@cass.ab.ca per the following guidelines.
If cancellation notice has been received:
- more than 10 days prior to the start date of the course – full refund.
- 3-9 days prior to the start date of the course – 50% refund.
- 2 days prior to the start date of the course – no refund.
- no notice – no refund.
Registration for each course closes 10 days prior to the course commencement.
All courses require a 10-hour commitment consisting of facilitated instruction and potentially some pre-course work prior to the facilitated instruction. CEP courses do not carry credit for post-secondary programs and grades are not assigned.
Individuals registered for courses are expected to commit to the entire time of the scheduled course and participate in all activities.
After the successful completion of a course, a certificate of completion will be provided.
Regulated CASS members may enter their hours into their Accreditation Profile to earn professional learning hours towards annual accreditation. Each completed course is equal to 10 hours.
CASS reserves the right to cancel a course due to insufficient registration or other extenuating circumstances. The decision to cancel a course will be made following the registration deadline. In such cases, registrants will be provided with a full refund, and will be notified by email.
