Alberta Stories of Practice Online Learning

Focused on Building Effective Relationships, First Nations, Métis and Inuit Education, and Effective Governance

Details

On behalf of CASS and the Edmonton Regional Learning Consortium, a four part webinar series is being offered. Alberta Education commissioned a 4-year longitudinal mixed methods research study, which is designed to assess, deepen, and extend the implementation process for Alberta’s three professional practice standards. A four university research team is generating insights from both quantitative and qualitative methods and is reporting results to Alberta Education, participants, and stakeholders on a yearly basis (2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022).

Results from the superintendents interviewed, in the most recent two years of this longitudinal study, share that there is evidence that system education leaders are using data from practice to further refine strategies to enhance growth toward the competencies. The research study offers that superintendents are “enacting” the standard.

Research results state that the following competencies were identified by superintendents as a focus for continued growth:

  • Building Effective Relationships
  • Ensuring First Nations, Métis and Inuit Education for All Students
  • Supporting Effective Governance
