Webinar Series: Advancing Career Pathways Across Alberta
Across Alberta, system leaders are placing increased emphasis on strengthening career pathways for students. This three-part webinar series is designed for education leaders who are shaping the conditions for high-quality career pathways across their school authorities. Grounded in insights from the 2025 Career Education Professional Learning Needs Assessment and aligned with provincial direction, the series supports leaders in moving from awareness to coherent, system-wide implementation.
This series brings together Alberta system leaders to share how career pathways are being designed and implemented across school authorities. Through a conversational format, presenters will highlight practical approaches, key decisions, and lessons learned from their work.
Participants will gain actionable insights to support their own context while deepening their understanding of how coherent, system-level career pathways are developed and sustained. The series also provides an opportunity to strengthen collaboration across jurisdictions and support the translation of provincial direction into optimal learning experiences for students.

As a result of participating in this series, participants will be able to:
- develop a deeper understanding of high-quality career pathways and how they are designed, structured, and implemented within diverse Alberta school authorities.
- apply practical approaches and lessons learned to strengthen career pathway development within their own jurisdiction.
- establish clear system direction and build the capacity required at both system and school levels to implement high-quality career pathways over time.
- identify key challenges and enabling conditions that impact the effectiveness of career pathways, using these insights to inform system-level decision-making and leadership practice.
- engage in collaborative dialogue with peers across jurisdictions to build shared understanding and collective capacity for high-quality career pathway development.
- translate provincial direction into context-responsive actions that enhance pathway clarity, expand access, and support optimal learning experiences for students

System Approaches to Student Career Planning and Development
This session examines how system leaders are strengthening student career planning and development through intentional, system-level design. Participants will explore how school authorities are creating clearer pathways, aligning supports, and expanding access to meaningful career-related experiences that help students build confidence and direction.
Drawing on Alberta stories of practice, the session highlights how career planning is embedded within system priorities, how roles and responsibilities are coordinated across schools, and how relationships, information, and real-world experiences work together to support informed student decision-making.

This session focuses on how system leaders are developing and sustaining industry partnerships to support coherent and scalable career pathways. Participants will explore how school authorities identify partners, build strong relationships, and create the conditions for partnerships to grow over time. Through Alberta stories of practice, the session highlights practical approaches to aligning partnerships with system priorities, clarifying roles and processes, and expanding access to meaningful, real-world learning experiences.

System Approaches to Strengthening CTF/CTS Work-Integrated Learning and Experiential Pathways
This session examines how system leaders expand student access to high-quality work-integrated learning and experiential pathway opportunities. Participants will explore how school authorities create the conditions for hands-on learning that builds skills, supports credential attainment, and deepens career exploration.
It will highlight how CTF and CTS are leveraged to connect students to meaningful, real-world experiences, with a focus on the structures, supports, and processes that increase participation and align opportunities with student interests and future pathways.
