CASS’ new learning lab, “Managing Aggressive Student Behaviours,” offers system education leaders a practical tool to support safer, more consistent responses across their school authorities. Drawing on Alberta research, professional practice standards, and four detailed case studies, the resource invites system education leaders to examine how adult beliefs, system structures, and staff capacity shape student outcomes. The learning lab highlights proactive planning, trauma-informed approaches, and the importance of predictable, compassionate adult responses during high stress situations. It also offers practical strategies for strengthening crisis protocols, staff wellness supports, and communication pathways. With its focus on real-world application and reflective learning, the resource provides school authorities with a thoughtful way to build coherence, confidence, and shared understanding across their systems, helping to strengthen safety, belonging, and professional practice.
