2026 CASS Indigenous Education Gathering: Kwayask-wastâsowin for Student Success ᑿᔭᐢᑿᐢᑖᓱᐏᐣ
CASS is excited to open the call for proposals for the 2026 CASS First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Education Gathering, scheduled for April 22-24, 2026, at the River Cree Resort in Enoch. The theme, “Kwayask-wastâsowin for Student Success,” is guided by Cultural Advisor Wapastim (White Horse), Jason Bigcharles, and the teachings of his kêhtê-ayak Elders. While there is no direct Cree word for “reconciliation,” kwayask-wastâsowin, which means “making things right,” offers a meaningful pathway for leadership, learning, and relational responsibility. Proposals, aligned with the Superintendent Leadership Quality Standard and Leadership Quality Standard, on living Treaties, anti-racism, learning as relational responsibility, land relationships, empowering youth, language revitalization, and Indigenous teacher hiring, mentoring, and retention are welcome. The deadline for submission is Jan. 9, 2026. Please reach out to CASS Leadership Consultant Dr. Dianne Roulson with any questions.
